The UMA Racing Quick Throttle (often called a “Fast Throttle”) is a mechanical upgrade designed to reduce the rotation angle needed to open the throttle valves fully.
In stock setups, you often have to “re-grip” or twist your wrist uncomfortably far to reach Wide Open Throttle (WOT). The UMA Quick Throttle changes the internal pulley ratio so you can go from idle to 100% power with a much shorter flick of the wrist.
Key Features
-
Short Stroke Action: Significantly reduces the degrees of rotation. This is crucial for racing where every millisecond spent twisting the grip is time lost.
-
CNC Aluminum Housing: Unlike cheap plastic throttles, UMA uses high-grade machined aluminum. It’s durable, looks premium, and won’t flex or crack under pressure.
-
Smooth Operation: Features a high-quality internal tube that minimizes friction, giving you a “silky” feel when rolling on or off the gas.
-
Universal Compatibility: Designed to fit standard 22mm (7/8″) handlebars. It works on both Carburetor and Fuel Injection bikes.
-
Complete Kit: Most versions come with a dedicated high-tension throttle cable and high-grip UMA Racing Handle Grips.
Models Available
| Type | Best For | What’s Included |
| Single Cable Version | Carburetor Bikes | Built-in starter switch. Comes with a single cable |
| Dual Cable Version | Modern FI Bikes (R15, MT-15) | Cables Not Included. |
Why Install a Quick Throttle?
-
Reduced Wrist Fatigue: Great for long rides or track days where constant throttle modulation can strain your wrist.
-
Faster Acceleration: By reaching WOT faster, you can exit corners and engage the engine’s power band more aggressively.
-
Better Control: It allows you to keep your elbow in a more ergonomic “attack” position rather than dropping it low just to get the throttle open.
Installation & Safety Warnings
-
Throttle “Snap Back”: After installation, always check that the throttle snaps back to the closed position freely when you let go. If it stays open, the cable routing is pinched.
-
The “Learning Curve”: Because the throttle is more sensitive, the bike will feel much “jerkier” at first. You’ll need to practice fine control, especially in 1st and 2nd gear.
-
Cable Length: Ensure the included cable is the correct length for your bike. Underbone bikes (Sniper/Raider) usually need shorter cables, while sportbikes (R15) might need longer ones.
Note: If your bike uses Ride-by-Wire (electronic throttle with no cables), this mechanical quick throttle will not work. It is only for bikes with physical throttle cables.
FAQs
What does a quick throttle do?
It reduces throttle rotation so the bike reaches higher throttle opening faster.
Is it good for daily riding?
Yes, if you like a more responsive throttle feel.
Does it increase horsepower?
No direct horsepower gain, but it improves throttle response and riding feel.
