The UMA Racing High-Performance Plug Coil (Non-FI/Carburetor) is the analog counterpart to the FI version, specifically engineered for motorcycles using a carburetor ignition system. While the primary goal—increasing spark intensity—remains the same, the internal resistance and electrical characteristics are tuned to work with the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) units found on older or non-EFI bikes.

Why Use the Non-FI Version?

  1. Avoid Electrical Damage: CDI and EFI systems operate on different electrical signals. Using an FI coil on a carburetor bike can lead to weak spark or potentially damage your CDI unit due to incorrect resistance levels.

  2. Performance Tuning: If you have upgraded your carburetor (e.g., to a PWK or PE series) or installed a racing CDI, the stock coil becomes a bottleneck. The UMA Non-FI coil ensures the higher fuel volume in the cylinder is ignited instantly.

  3. Reliability: It is particularly popular for vintage or underbone racing builds (like the Yamaha Crypton or Honda Wave) where consistent high-RPM performance is required.

Installation & Compatibility

It is a “Plug-and-Play” favorite for many popular carburetor models:

  • Honda: Hornet, Xblade

  • Suzuki: Gixxer (carburettor version).

  • TVS: Ntorq, Raider. NOTE: The carb version does not work with RTR160 4V, the FI coil is needed for 4V

Pro-Tip: Just like the FI version, you will see the best results when pairing this with a high-quality Iridium spark plug (like Uma Racing Utech Laser Iridium). This combination lowers the resistance needed to jump the spark gap, allowing the UMA coil’s extra power to be used for a larger, more intense flame front.
