Step-by-Step Installation Guidelines

To prevent cracking the delicate aluminum pressure plate or causing uneven clutch engagement, follow this professional installation sequence:

1.Drain Oil and Access the Clutch: 15 min.

Place the motorcycle securely on its side stand or a rear paddock stand. Drain the engine oil into a clean pan. Carefully unbolt the right-side engine crankcase clutch cover and gently peel off the old paper gasket (keep a fresh replacement gasket on hand).

2.Execute a Cross-Pattern Unbolting Sequence: 10 min.

Locate the four clutch spring retention bolts on the pressure plate face. Using a 10mm socket, loosen the bolts gradually in a diagonal star (cross) pattern (1–2 turns at a time). Unbolting one side completely while the other is under full tension can snap the aluminum pressure plate pillars instantly.

3.Swap the Springs and Hand-Thread: 5 min.

Remove the stock springs and slide the new UMA Racing springs into the pillars. Re-position the pressure plate and hand-thread the four retention bolts with their respective washers. Ensure the springs sit flat and centered within their designated pockets.

4.Torque to Specification and Adjust Freeplay: 10 min.

Using your torque wrench, tighten the bolts in a diagonal star pattern until they reach the factory specification of 8 to 10 Nm (5.8 to 7.2 ft-lbs). Reinstall the engine cover with a new gasket, refill the oil, and adjust your handlebar clutch cable freeplay to 10mm–15mm to accommodate the stiffer spring pressure.

 

Rider Comfort Note: Because these high-performance racing springs increase clamping force inside the engine, you will experience a slightly firmer pull at the handlebar clutch lever. This is entirely normal and ensures maximum power transfer to the ground.
