The UMA Racing Dual Kit Air Filter for the R15 M, R15 V3/V4, MT-15, and XSR 155 is a performance-oriented upgrade designed to replace your restrictive stock paper filter. Unlike standard filters, the Dual Kit uses a specialized dual-layer sponge system that allows you to tune your intake based on whether you want maximum protection or maximum power.
Key Features
-
Dual-Layer Configuration: The kit includes two separate filter sponges (5mm and 10mm). You can use both layers for superior dust filtration (street use) or a single layer for significantly increased airflow (racing/performance use).
-
Washable and Reusable: Unlike factory filters that must be thrown away when dirty, the UMA sponge filters are fully washable with water and mild soap, making them much more cost-effective over time.
-
Larger Surface Area: The design maximizes the intake surface within the stock airbox, reducing air turbulence and allowing the engine to “breathe” more freely.
-
Plug-and-Play: It is a direct “drop-in” replacement. It fits perfectly into the original airbox of the Yamaha R15 M, R15 V3/V4, MT-15, and XSR 155 without any modifications.
Dual vs. Single Layer: How to Choose?
-
Dual Layer (Both Sponges): This is the standard street setup. It provides high-efficiency filtration to keep your engine clean from fine dust while still flowing better than the stock paper element.
-
Single Layer (One Sponge): This is the racing setup. By removing one layer, you minimize intake resistance. This is ideal if you have other performance mods like a racing exhaust or an upgraded ECU (like the UMA M5), as the engine can pull in air much faster.
Maintenance Pro-Tips
-
Cleaning: Wash the sponges gently. Do not wring them out aggressively, as this can tear the foam cells. Let them air dry completely before re-installing.
-
Filter Oil: For the best filtration, apply a light coat of air filter oil to the sponges after they are dry. This helps “trap” micro-dust that might otherwise pass through the foam.
-
Check Intervals: UMA recommends a quick check every 2,000km. If you ride in very dusty or construction-heavy areas, check it every 1,000km to ensure your airflow isn’t blocked.

FAQs
Is this better than stock paper filter?
Yes, for airflow and reusability. It can improve throttle response.
Do I need ECU tuning?
Not required, but tuned bikes may gain more benefit.
How often should I clean it?
Depends on riding conditions. Dusty roads require more frequent cleaning.
