The RCB Monoshock S3-Line (285mm) is a premium suspension upgrade designed to replace the often “budget-friendly” stock shocks found on the Suzuki Gixxer 150 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
While factory shocks are typically tuned for soft, general comfort, the S3-Line is built for precision handling. It allows you to “dial in” the suspension to match your weight and riding style, significantly reducing the “bouncing” or “bottoming out” feeling during aggressive cornering.
Key Features
-
Adjustable Spring Preload: Allows you to stiffen or soften the spring tension. This is essential if you frequently carry a passenger (pillion) or heavy luggage, ensuring the bike maintains its proper ride height.
-
Big Damper Piston (35mm): A larger piston diameter means more stable oil flow inside the shock. This results in consistent damping performance even during long rides where heat usually causes cheaper shocks to fade.
-
12.5mm Hardened Shaft: The piston rod is induction-hardened for extreme durability, ensuring it won’t bend under heavy impact while providing a smooth, low-friction stroke.
-
Monotube Design: Separates the oil and nitrogen gas more effectively, which prevents “foaming.” This translates to a more predictable and “planted” feel when leaning the bike over.
-
Premium Aesthetics: Features RCB’s signature anodized finish (available in Red or Black/Anthracite), giving the bike a high-end “racing” look.

Why Upgrade Your Gixxer or RTR 160 4V?
-
Eliminate “Squat”: The stock RTR 160 4V can sometimes “squat” too much under hard acceleration, which lightens the front wheel. The S3-Line keeps the chassis level for better front-end grip.
-
Cornering Stability: If your Gixxer feels “wobbly” mid-corner, it’s usually because the stock shock lacks sufficient damping. The S3-Line provides a much more “connected” feel to the asphalt.
-
Durability: Stock shocks on these models are often sealed units that cannot be serviced. The RCB S3-Line is built with higher-quality seals and materials designed to outlast OEM components.
Installation Note
The 285mm length is the standard fitment for these models. However, when installing:
-
Check the Bushings: Ensure the mounting bolts are torqued to factory specifications.
-
Preload Setting: Start with the “sag” measurement. With you sitting on the bike, the shock should compress about 25-30% of its total travel. Use the included spanner tool to adjust the rings until you reach this point.
