RCB VR Series Dual Shock Absorber (290mm) is a top-tier, race-inspired rear suspension system engineered specifically for the Yamaha Aerox 155 V1 (NVX 155).
Positioned above standard gas shocks, the VR Series is built for riders demanding absolute chassis stability during aggressive cornering. This version features a stealthy Premium Black design, a lowered 290mm layout, and an optimized internal valving structure that accommodates a 15mm load adjustment range to handle varying passenger or payload requirements effortlessly.
Key Features
-
Advanced Rebound & Compression Damping: The VR Series features sophisticated internal speed-sensitive valving. It dampens high-velocity impacts over potholes while keeping the rear wheel glued to the road surface during hard throttle acceleration out of corners.
-
High-Pressure Nitrogen Gas Reservoir: Equipped with a blacked-out, external piggyback reservoir tank. By separating the high-pressure nitrogen gas from the damper oil via a floating piston, it prevents oil foaming (cavitation) and ensures fading never occurs under heavy racing or hot street conditions.
-
Threaded Spring Preload with 15mm Adjustability: Built with a precise, threaded adjustment ring that allows you to mechanically compress or loosen the coil spring by up to 15mm. This gives you exact control over your rider sag, ensuring optimal geometry whether riding solo or fully loaded.
-
Heavy-Duty Monotube Alloy Body: CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, the main cylinder body maximizes thermal structural dissipation while drastically shedding chassis weight over OEM steel setups.
-
Included Spare Spring Set: The kit includes an extra pair of interchangeable springs with a alternative stiffness rating. This lets you completely re-calibrate your scooter’s spring load characteristics based on your typical riding environment.

Important Fitment Considerations
The factory standard rear shock absorber height for a Yamaha Aerox V1 is 305mm. Dropping down to this specialized 290mm VR Series variant lowers the rear subframe ride height by 15mm (approx. 0.6 inches).
-
The Agility Advantage: This slight lowering lowers your scooter’s overall center of gravity, delivering an incredibly planted feel during high-speed tracking and minimizing front-wheel lift.
-
Rider Ergonomics: It lowers the seat height slightly, making it much easier for riders to plant both feet flat on the tarmac at complete stops.
-
Ground Clearance Note: Because the rear sits lower, be mindful of grounding the under-cowl or center stand when riding aggressively over tall speed bumps or dropping down steep curb transitions.
Installation Guidelines
-
Chassis Unloading: Always place your Aerox securely on its center stand on a completely flat surface before unbolting your factory shocks. Slide a small wooden block beneath the rear wheel to prevent the engine casing swingarm from dropping unexpectedly when the top bolts are freed.
-
Threadlock the Mounting Bolts: Dual-shock scooter layouts are subjected to continuous vibration from the engine powertrain. Clean the threads of your upper and lower factory mounting bolts, apply a single drop of medium-strength blue threadlocker, and torque them tightly to factory specifications.
-
Adjusting Your 15mm Load: Use the included spanner wrench tool to turn the threaded preload collar. Compressing the spring (spinning the nut down) uses the 15mm load range to stiffen the initial suspension stroke for heavier payloads. Ensure both the left and right shocks are adjusted to the exact same millimeter height to avoid chassis twisting.
-
Spring Swap Procedure: If swapping to the included spare springs for a lighter or stiffer ride profile, use a dedicated mechanical shock spring compressor tool to safely remove the bottom spring retainer clip. Attempting to pry the retainers open by hand can result in serious injury or damage to the anodized finish.
